I started shooting IDPA about 2000. I shot club matches once a month and thought that was all there was to it, until 2007 when some friends talked me into shooting my first sanctioned match. That match I entered in SSP as an Expert and placed 8th. A month later at my second sanctioned match I won SSP expert and got the bump to Master. Since that bump I have been driven to get to the top of the masters. Last year I won several Division Champs at sanctioned matches and recently won 1st place SSP at the 2010 IDPA Indoor Nationals while at the same time winning Most Accurate shooter.
In 2008 I was asked to start USPSA at out local club, so I took an RO course and shot a classifier match so I could work and shoot the Area 8 match (mostly so I could learn how to run USPSA matches). My initial classification was a “C” in production. At my first Area match I won “C” class, two months later I had shot my way into “B” and finished 2nd B at another major match (Summer Blast), by the end of my first season shooting USPSA I had earned my “A” card. The 2009 season I shot a few sectional matches finishing consistently in the top 5 over all. I shot the 2009 USPSA nationals and finished 9th “A”. 2010 was another successful season with several division champs at IDPA matches, I took 1st place Master at USPSA Area8 and 4th place Master at USPSA nationals.
Right now I feel my future looks bright in the practical pistol sports, I plan on improving my shooting more in 2011 than ever before.
A little about my life off the range: I have been married to my wife Sharon since 1998 and have two daughters. My wife competes with me regularly at club and sanctioned matches and is a very good shooter herself. I work two jobs: one job is in the medical field and the other is working on guns (S&W M&Ps to be exact.)
